The Trehern tower is currently COVERED with VHSs!  And they're all horror movies for the Shocktoberfest here at NJNM.  Lots to watch so far, but now I get the chance to write down my thoughts.  Now, imagine yourself falling asleep, relaxed and dreaming; now, look down at your stomach and see good ole Freddy Krueger trying to rip himself out of your intestines!  Yeah!!  Bitchin' right?!?!

This film takes place a couple of years after the events of the first film, which tells the tale of murdering janitor Freddy Krueger and how a bunch of kids killed him by throwing him into a furnace or something.  But that didn't kill him for good, because he can come back and haunt dreams.  The dreams of his killers, AND the dreams of their descendants   I always thought it was the street that jump-started the dream killing; meaning anyone who moves into the neighborhood is now going to be OWNED by Freddy in Slumberland.  Apparently not the case...yet!

Yeah, I've heard of Trehern!  He's so dreamy!!!

So in the third installment, Nancy (Langenkamp) returns to help other kids being haunted by Krueger.  The story is actually really riveting, and for some reason the movies try to highlight the killings and such, which are funny/gross, but the real fear comes from the idea of being killed in a dream...

I recently watched a documentary on dreaming, where scientists indicated that humans have been having dreams ever since they were animalistic in nature.  Meaning to say before we were talking, thinking and communicating humans, we dreamed like animals.  It's instinct to dream.  Your mind is preparing for any number of scenarios, and that why sometimes you wonder how you came up with such a dream.  But the safe thing about dreaming is that you can't die; you're biology is prepping for a showdown with a dinosaur by dreaming about it, so that when it actually happens, you don't keel over from shock!

Call me "Cropsy" again, and I will straight up murder you, Urkel!

Anyway, the caveat here is that Freddy can murder you physically in the metaphysical world!  And sometimes, Freddy can find a way to come back to the physical world, if the Dream Warriors can game the system.  The Dream Warriors are the group of kids in a rehab facility who struggle with the fact that they share the same dream antagonist; that's when Nancy comes back and lets them know they are being haunted by Freddy, and the only way to get rid of him is to kill him.  I guess that didn't work in the first two movies, because...well, you'll just have to watch those to see what happens!

Watch what you eat, kids, cause you might end up with Type 10 Diabetes!

After finding out how to kill Freddy (grab his sack of bones and burry him), there's a big finale when everyone group sleeps and enter each other's dreams.  Yeah, confusing, but it happens.  The movie is filled with weird nuances, which I'm afraid to go into now, but safe to say that this franchise (so far) has that 80s vintage feel to it with plenty of disturbing and scary moments.  Check them out as soon as you can!  As for me, I'll be back with a half review of a movie I don't plan on finishing...or will I???  Mwahahahahah--cough cough cough **Freddy busts out of face**
